I am a registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner with extensive experience working across both the government sector and non-government organisations. I have an in-depth understanding of the needs and challenges for individuals with complex therapeutic and behaviour support needs.
My approach to behaviour work is largely influenced by multiple disciplines that value contemporary approaches for treatment and management of behaviours of concern. This includes person-centred practice; trauma informed positive behaviour support, strength-based approaches and least restrictive practices.
Complementary to my role is a deep insight of the human psyche and its functioning. Furthermore, the ways in which this understanding can help to achieve personal growth. This was acquired via award of a disability partnerships scholarship resulting in my study and work in Guided Imagery and Music which embraces the theory of Jungian psychology. The core of Jungian theory is the belief that the whole of the individual’s experience should be respected and included rather than aspects being pathologised or disavowed.
My focus is to assist individuals and their carers to fulfil aspects of their wellbeing and enhance their overall quality of life.
My daily leisure pursuits include playing my guitar / piano and hanging out with my cat.
My areas of expertise include working with children and families, trauma, grief, loss, and bereavement. Additionally working with CALD and LGTBIQ populations.
I have provided specialist support to children and adults with a disability, their family members / carers and service providers in a range of environments to include educational, vocational, hospice (paediatric palliative care) and supported disability accommodation.
